Mike Babcock has made the decision to resign from his role as the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets, a development stemming from a recent controversy that has captured attention across the NHL. This incident has triggered investigations by both the NHL and the NHL Players' Association (NHLPA), with conflicting narratives emerging from former players.
Paul Bissonnette's version of events alleges that Babcock summoned team captain
Boone Jenner to his office shortly after taking over as coach and requested access to the photos stored on Jenner's personal cell phone.
In response, the Blue Jackets wasted no time in releasing statements from both Babcock and Jenner. While acknowledging the exchange of photos, they downplayed the significance of the incident and instead shifted blame onto Bissonnette, labeling his allegations as "irresponsible and completely inaccurate."

To its credit, the NHLPA has refrained from accepting either statement uncritically. The Athletic's Katie Strang has reported that the NHLPA is actively scrutinizing the allegations related to Babcock and players' personal devices and photos. Meanwhile, the NHL itself has confirmed its commitment to gathering additional information on the matter.
Former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Frankie Corrado, who played under Babcock during his time as a player, has also contributed his insights to the ongoing debate. Now working as an analyst for TSN, Corrado offers a unique perspective on the controversy as it continues to unfold.
