Friday afternoon was a groundbreaking day for the hockey community as the NHL announced that they have come to an agreement with the International Olympic Committee and that the NHL would be returning to the Olympics in Italy in 2026. With many players excited by the news, it seems that the best of the best in the NHL are going to compete for their country in 2026.
With social media buzzing over the topic, hockey fans were provided with a first look on a potential roster for Team USA in 2026 and boy does it have a chance to be special.
Starting with the goalies, Team USA could potentiall not only have three All-Star goalies on the roster, but three of the best goalies in the enitre NHL to wear the red, white and blue. Thatcher Demko from the Canucks, Jake Oettinger from the Stars, and Connor Hellebuyck from the Jets could all suit up for Team USA in 2026.
Aside from the goalies, Team USA could roll into the Olympics with a whole lot of firepower, starting with Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews. Matthews, along with guys like JT Miller, Alex DeBrincat, Brock Boeser and Jack Hughes could all be on the same team which would be a sight for hockey fans everywhere to see.
Another interesting point is that Team USA has the chance to have two sets of brothers suit up in the stars and stripes, as the Tkachuk brothers of Matthew and Brady along with the Hughes brothers of Luke and Jack could all potentially be representing the United States in 2026.
