The AHL is a unique league, full of talented young players who have a promising future in the NHL or, on the other hand, 30+ year old players whose major league careers have failed and who are now languishing in the AHL.
The San Jose Sharks and Arizona Coyotes affiliate clubs (AHL) squared off last night in a Saturday night rivalry game. Given that both teams are tied for first place in their respective divisions, a San Jose victory would have moved them ahead of Tucson.
The idea of "winning" the game, however, was quickly abandoned when both coaches started their grinder lines, which were made up of some big, strong men who can throw punches. Before the puck even dropped, every player on the ice decided to take off their gloves, resulting in a full-on line brawl, which is something we do not see very often these days.
