The Flyers have something special on this roster. Where there isn't a lot of things to be excited about or even many positive things, the Flyers do have quite an interesting story right now.
It's been some time since we saw a pair of brothers on the same team together here in Philadelphia, going back to the Luke and
Brayden Schenn days. The Flyers family has welcomed Jackson and
Noah Cates. Two brothers from Minnesota who have found their way playing in the NHL and both on the same team. Talk about the dream.
On April 23, 2021, Jackson Cates debuted for the Flyers. A grade ahead of his brother Noah. Jackson typically stepped first with Noah watching and learning before joining him the following year. However, once it was Noah's turn to go pro the following year, also with the Flyers, but due to a leg injury, Jackson wasn't there to greet his brother in the locker room.

Jackson watched with pride as Noah made his NHL debut on March 30. Noah would go on to make a major impact with the Flyers, scoring five goals and adding four assists over the final 16 games. A future bright spot for the Flyers youth.
With a new season and a new coach there, lineups will certainly not look the same. Flyers opened up rookie camp weekend with a pair of games against the New York Rangers, both were played at the PPL Center. Both Jackson and Noah were in the lineup, playing at the top line alongside Tyson Forester.
A certain lyric written by the famous band from Boston filled the Cates family, I'm sure. The boys were back and looking for trouble.
Trouble they caused as the Cates brothers had an impressive weekend. Both gaining a point, a goal for Noah and an assist for Jackson. The special thing about that is Jackson assisted his brother on a 2-1 shorthanded chance the other way. Feeding his brother for a goal. What a special moment that must have been.
The rookie games have ended, and practice will resume today at 10:15am. Whi knows what the future will hold for the Cates brothers but seeing them both on the ice has been something special. The chemistry is there clearly and seeing both of these boys play together is something that is always admired.
