The Philadelphia Flyers are in the process of rebuilding their roster, but there are concerns about their recent moves.

Despite making a few acquisitions, Danny Briere missed out on the chance to sign one of the best free agents, Vladimir Tarasenko, due to their limited cap space of $2.6 million.
1x$5 for Tarasenko is exactly what the Flyers should've done if they actually cared about «flipping players at the deadline» instead of the $ they committed to a bunch of washed up garbage, but hey, why do something good that actually makes sense in a rebuild?

Instead of trading Travis Sanheim to make room for Tarasenko, they signed Marc Staal for $1.1 million, who may be a good locker-room leader but is past his prime and not a strong offensive player.
While Hathway is a decent addition to the 4th line, signing him for $2.3 million combined with Staal's contract means they missed out on the opportunity to sign Tarasenko and develop a younger defenseman.
This is a rare mistake by Briere, but collecting average players is not the best strategy in my opinion.
