Former 4th overall pick Nikolai Zherdev has turned heads by joining Italy's Alleghe in the second-tier league.

Once a highly skilled player, Zherdev's career took diverse paths due to perceived lack of drive.
Despite this, he recorded multiple 20+ goal NHL seasons and surpassed 60 points. After 6 NHL seasons, and one with the Philadelphia Flyers, he played in the KHL until 2018, with a VHL stint in 2019-20.

Since, he's played in Slovakia, Italy, and Belarus, seeking a professional hockey home. Zherdev's journey underscores unfulfilled potential, leaving the hockey world wondering about the 'what-ifs' of his career and what could have been.
