Dave Gardner, the 8th overall pick in the 1972 NHL Draft, has passed away at age 70, according to NHL Alumni.
During his career, Gardner played 350 games and scored 190 points for multiple teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, California Seals, Cleveland Barrons, and Philadelphia Flyers. His father and brother, Cal and Paul, also played in the NHL, making hockey a significant part of his family's legacy.
Despite his son pursuing a professional hockey career in Europe, he was unable to transition to the NHL. Gardner's contributions to the sport of hockey will not be forgotten, and our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.
