In a recent announcement from the NHL Board of Governors, it has been revealed that teams will no longer wear specialty jerseys during warmups in the upcoming season. This decision includes jerseys for events such as Hockey Fights Cancer, Military Appreciation, Pride, and other special occasions. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman believes that the jerseys have become "too much of a distraction" and that the importance of these causes has been undermined by players opting out of certain events.

However, despite this change, Bettman encourages teams to continue hosting special nights to support various causes, albeit without the use of the specialty warmup jerseys. The jerseys will still be available for fans to purchase, but they will no longer be worn by the players during warmups. According to Bettman, this shift will help maintain the focus on the game and the cause it represents.

So, while the jerseys may be absent from warmups, the NHL remains committed to supporting important causes through themed nights, and the jerseys themselves will still be accessible for fans.
