Bob Murray Joins as Senior Advisor
The Flyers have brought in Bob Murray, the former General Manager of the Anaheim Ducks, as a Senior Advisor. Murray, 68, resigned from his role as Executive Vice President & GM of the Ducks in November 2021 amid an NHL investigation into his professional conduct. Flyers' President of Hockey Operations, Keith Jones, played a pivotal role in Murray's hiring.
New Pro Scouts
Dany Heatley, whose hiring was previously mentioned by Charlie O'Connor, has officially joined the Flyers as a Pro Scout. Heatley, known for his prolific scoring during his playing career, brings his knowledge to the scouting team.
Greg Chase, who previously worked alongside Flyers GM Daniel Briere with the ECHL's Mariners in Maine, has also been added as a Pro Scout, along with Heatley.
Daniel Tremblay, a former scout with the Gatineau Olympiques in the QMJHL, has been welcomed into the Flyers' scouting department.
Mike Eastwood Takes Over as Director of Pro Scouting
Mike Eastwood, a seasoned NHL veteran with 13 seasons and 738 games under his belt, has assumed the role of Director of Pro Scouting. This change sees him replace Dave Brown, who remains part of the scouting staff in a reduced capacity.
Retirements
Two long-serving members of the Flyers' scouting team have chosen retirement. John Chapman, who held roles as an Amateur Scout & Pro Scout for the Flyers from 1995-2023, has decided to step down. Similarly, Al Hill, a former Flyers player from the late '70s to early '80s and Pro Scout from 1998-2023, has also retired.
These adjustments in the Flyers' hockey operations staff mark a significant transition for the organization as they prepare for the upcoming season.
