Canada Triumphs over Switzerland 6-3 to make Semifinals

Flyers promising prospect Tyson Foerster scored on the first shot of the game at just 1:07 for an early Canadian lead. Switzerland answered at 2:21 with a tip-in by Simon Knak that came from a shot by another Flyers prospect, defenseman Brian Zanetti.

A slew of goals followed in the first period with Canadian goals from Jack Thompson, Logan Stankoven, and Nathan Gaucher. Swiss goaltender Noah Patenaude was pulled at 17:01 of the first period and replaced by Kevin Pasche after allowing four goals on nine shots. Attilio Biasca cut Canada's lead 4-2 with just eight seconds left in the first, proving that the Swiss were playing hard.
At 4:20 of the second period, William Cuylle got one passed Pasche to put Canada up 5-2. Biasca scored his second goal of the game at 7:51 making it 5-3. The scoring action would cool down until 18:51 of the third period, when Stankoven landed the empty netter to finish this one 6-3 and a victory for the Canadians.
Canada will face Czechia in the semifinals on Friday August 19 at 4 pm EST.
