The Philadelphia Flyers and their fans are buzzing after an impressive two game win streak to open up the 2022-23. With high expectations this year from all around, young goalie Carter Hart has seemed to deliver while under pressure. The 24-year-old is entering his fifth season with the Flyers and has made some impressive performances in his short time with the team. However, Hart has faced critiques due to some lack luster performances as well. While this is not an uncommon occurrence in the sports world, one cannot dismiss the concerns. In the 2020-21 season, Hart only earned a .877 SV% in the 27 games he played.
Last season, he posted up .905 SV% in 45 games played which was a great improvement. Between these last two starts, Hart is boasting a .940% with 64 saves versus 67 shots against. 35 of those saves alone came from season opener against the New Jersey Devils, which helped give the team the overall edge to earn a 5-2 win. He is currently ranked as the 15th best SV% among goalies throughout the league, as well 7th in overall saves per NBC Sports.
Even to compare his performance between this season's opener to last year's, Hart's .946 SV% versus New Jersey is a night and day difference between his performance versus the Vancouver Canucks last season with a SV% of only .897.
Carter Hart is looking very composed in between the pipes this season so far, and his performance is leaving many fans anxious to see what the rest of the season has in store for this young goalie and the rest of the Philadelphia Flyers.
