Carter Hart was pulled for the first time this season and the beleaguered Flyers were dominated by Pittsburgh in a 4-1 loss at the Wells Fargo Center. The lopsided defeat pushed the Flyers' losing streak to nine games (0-6-3). Hart wasn't sharp but he sure wasn't the Flyers' biggest problem. "That had nothing to do with Carter," Tortorella said of the decision to take out his goalie Ryan Poehling scored a pair of second-period goals to put the Penguins in total control. Hart was yanked after the second one. The 24-year-old finished with 17 saves on 21 shots.
A little Flyers history for you on past Flyers goalies:
In 2017 a game against the Devils, Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth collapses on ice in scary scene, Neuvirth fell over completely untouched. Neuvirth was taken off on a stretcher after collapsing during the first period he fell over completely untouched.
Apparently he "wasn't feeling that well in the locker room and we were worried about him» before the game started. Neuvirth's exit forced AHL call-up Anthony Stolarz into action, as the Flyers' other regular, Steve Mason, was out with an illness of his own. Stolarz stopped 26 shots in his 52:23 of ice to complete the shutout.
In another game in 2018 Brian Elliott was pulled early from a game against the Devils. Elliott appeared to make a split attempt trying to cover the opposite post but was too late as the Devils took a 2-0 lead. Elliott was slow to get up and then departed as Calvin Pickard took over in net. Well it's rough being a goalie for he Flyers.
