Chuck Fletcher had a deal in place with Montreal involving James Van Riemsdyk

We know how important it's going to be for Chuck Fletcher to make some space under the cap this summer. The Flyers only have 5.4M$ free, and it's clearly not enough if Fletcher wants to make some big moves this summer.

And one of the names that have been brought up since quite some time is James Van Riemsdyk. He has to go or it's going to be difficult for the Flyers to sign some players during the offseason.

According to Eric Engels, from Sportsnet, the Flyers and the Canadiens had a deal in place earlier this season. Montreal would have received James Van Riemsdyk and a prospect for defenseman Jeff Petry.
