Islanders' GM Lou Lamoriello took everyone by surprise by firing his head coach Barry Trotz. The latter wasn't always helped by his GM, but he found a way to qualify his team to the Playoffs, and even go to the Eastern Conference Final 2 times...before this year.
However, this move by Lamoriello could be a good news for multiple teams, including the Flyers, who are looking for a new head coach.
Furthermore, the organization gave a blank check to Chuck Fletcher for him to make the best possible hiring behind the bench. And Barry Trotz sure looks like the best option on the market.
If the Flyers really want to be competitive next season, they will have to make everything in their power to make impactful move. It begins by hiring a good coach.
