June 20th 1992 was a monumental day in the hockey world as the Philadelphia Flyers went all in on 18 year forward Eric Lindros after he inform the Quebec Nordiques he wasn't going to play for them.

The Flyers traded away Peter Forsberg who's arguably a better player then Lindros was during his career, the Flyers also dealt away goaltender Ron Hextall, defenceman Steve Duchesne, forwards Mike Ricci, Kerry Huffman, and Chris Simon, $15 million dollars cash, and the Flyers 1993 and 1994 first round picks to which the Nordiques drafted Jocelyn Thibault and forward Nolan Baumgartner.
This was a once in a lifetime trade will never see again. Looking back on it I'm sure the Flyers wouldn't make this deal again all though Eric Lindros spent 8 years as a Philadelphia being part of the "Legion of Doom" line but the trade helped the favored the Quebec Nordiques that relocated to Colorado and became the Avalanche.
The Colorado Avalanche would use the pieces they got from Flyers to build a Stanley Cup team by trading away Jocelyn Thibault in a package to Montreal for the best goalie in the world at the time Patrick Roy and the Colorado Avalanche where built to win the Stanley Cup in 1996 .
The Flyers would make the Stanley Cup final in 1997 but unfortunately for Eric Lindros and Flyers fans they would lose to the Detroit Red Wings in a 4 game sweep.
Lindros would ultimately get traded from the Flyers to the New York Rangers after Lindros turning down the Flyers one year $8.5 million dollar contract extension by sitting out and demanding a trade. The Flyers dealt Lindros August 20th 2001 to the Rangers for Jan Hlavac, Kim Johnsson, Pavel Brendl, and their 2003 third round pick (Stefan Ruzicka)ending The Lindros era in Philadelphia.
