As the Flyers' rebuilding efforts enter their second season, it's widely expected that the team will continue to transform their roster, with many players coming in and out as they reshape their core and prospect pool.
Like many teams that have embarked on rebuilding in the past, one key component is taking on the salary of bad contracts to acquire an extra draft pick or prospect to expedite their efforts.
According to Anthony Di Marco of The Fourth Period, the Flyers are prepared to use their salary cap as a tool to acquire more assets. Currently, the Flyers have only around $1,000,000 available. However, once Ryan Ellis goes back onto LTIR for another season, it will push them well over $7 million in cap space.

There have been several rumours throughout the past few weeks regarding what the Flyers may do with this salary cap money. Elliot Friedman, from the 32 Thoughts podcast, reported that they were in talks with the Ottawa Senators about acquiring Mathieu Joseph along with his almost $3 million cap hit in exchange for a high prospect.
As general manager Danny Briere and president of hockey operations Keith Jones continue to make their mark on this roster, a long road lies ahead for the team. They will need to wait for their prospects to continue developing into long-term roster players."
