DeBoer rips Robin Lehner after awful game

Pete DeBoer is not a shy man when it comes to making polarizing decisions in the blue paint. If last year's Stanley Cup Playoffs was any indication of it, DeBoer expects the absolute best out of his netminder every night without exception.

That's why after last nights, 3-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils, DeBoer absolutely ripped Robin Lehner and his play in his post game comments.

DeBoer said,

"This time of year you're looking for your guy to be better than the guy at the other end. That wasn't the case."

Lehner posted an .893 save percentage while allowing three goals on 28 shots. At the other end of the rink, Andrew ‘The Hamburgler' Hammond saved forty four out of forty two good for a .955 save percentage and an absolute high speed theft of a win.

If you need reminding, Pete DeBoer decided to not play Marc-Andre Fleury for game 4 of the conference finals, electing to go with Robin Lehner. This resulted in a 2-1 win and an even series. However, after a loss in game 5, which Fleury started, DeBoer elected to go with Lehner in game 6, eventually losing in ot and getting eliminated.

All this to say, Fleury was traded because of his salary and age but also in huge part thanks to DeBoer's faith in him being lost.

He was the reason they have Lehner now and for some reason still has the balls to whine and complain about it. Not to mention the blatant abuse of cap circumvention tactics by the Golden Knight's. Could we hate this guy even more?
