Lehigh Valley Phantoms will have to be without a very solid defenseman in their playoff run.
Phantoms LHD Egor Zamula, unfortunately suffered a shoulder injury and will not return to the Phantoms lineup for the 2023 AHL Playoffs. Egor is expected to return just in time for training camp in September, but will be sidelined for now.
He underwent surgery on April 10th at Penn Medicine - University of Pennsylvania Health System. Between now and September is a 5 months period, hopefully Zamula has a healthy and quick recovery.
A lot of fans are upset with this news, as Zamula was a key part to the Phantoms lineup and could have really help if the Phantoms do advance in the AHL Playoffs. Especially since the Phantoms would play the Providence Bruins in the next round.

Egor Zamula who went undrafted and signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Flyers in September of 2018, has made a name for himself within the organization. The 23 year old has 49 career points with the Phantoms in 127 games played. This season Zamula played in 58 games between AHL and NHL, 44-14 split.
John Tortorella and Danny Briere both want to see a younger group going into next season, so there is a huge possibility that Egor Zamula is in the lineup at the start of the Flyers season. John Tortorella stated in an interview that the Flyers defense is not set in stone and that there are no guarantees. Meaning that some of the youth could push the veterans for jobs.
