During an episode of the Spittin' Chicklets podcast, former goaltender Brian Boucher shared a chilling moment he experienced during Game 7 of the 2000 Eastern Conference Final between the Philadelphia Flyers and the New Jersey Devils.

Boucher was a teammate of Eric Lindros when the star forward suffered an infamous hit from Scott Stevens.
As Lindros crossed the blue line with the puck, Stevens delivered a devastating blow to his jaw, leaving him unconscious on the ice. Boucher feared the worst, believing Lindros had died from the impact.

« I gotta be honest with you, I thought like something bad. He was like, you know, he wasn't moving.»

Ryan Whitney then asked: «You thought he was dead» to which Boucher replied «yes.»

Thankfully, Lindros survived the hit, but he sustained a concussion that kept him out of the entire 2000-01 season and marked the end of his time with the Flyers.
