The Edmonton Oilers had their best year since 2006's magic run to the Stanley Cup final when they we would ultimately lose to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Last season the Oilers would make it to the Western Conference Finals led by the play of Oilers captain Connor Mcdavid but would fall short to the stacked Colorado Avalanche roster.
Right now the Edmonton Oilers are currently struggling to keep their roster together being reportedly $6,000,000 dollars over the salary cap, and needing to make three more signings to have a full roster heading into next season.
Meaning Edmonton Oilers General Manager Ken Holland has some work to do.

One of the biggest blunders the Oilers did was overpaid big giving Oilers defenceman
Darnell Nurse a 8 year-deal paying him $9,250,000 dollars annually.
Holland has just re-signed restricted free agents Kailer Yammamoto, and Jesse Puljarvi however, Puljarvi is currently on Holland's trading block, with 8 teams believed to be interested.
But right now Oilers Gm has himself quite the dilemma. However, The Edmonton Oilers Nation podcast is a one of the most well known podcasts' in Canada came up with a very bold yet controversial suggestion to deal with the Oilers cap issues.
"The way to free the most amount of money is to trade
Connor McDavid. You trade him for multiple first round picks, and you use those first round picks to trade for players making league minimum. So instead of having Connor McDavid, you have twelve players on entry level contracts."
I think the city of Edmonton would riot if Holland indeed traded Connor Mcdavid but then again the Oilers would fix there cap issues not to mention that return for Mcdavid would be huge.
