The NHL returned to action Monday night after the NHL All-Star break, but once again the subject of goaltenders intentionally knocking the net off has come up again.
It started with Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray being investigated by the NHL after numerous clips of him caught red handed were shared on Social media.
Well it looks like we can add New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov to that list. During last nights game between the Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers, the Officials would blow the whistle dead due to the net being dislodged.
However, the Flyers commentary team noticed it and actually acused Varlamov of intentionally doing it. From the footage I'd have to agree. This might be something the NHL is going to have to look into more maybe handing out fines to goaltenders could fix this issue, or enforcing better net bearings to keep the net intact.
