Training camp has officially begun, and it was time for the rookies to show off their stuff in game form. A pair of back-to-back games against the New York Rangers took place held at the PPL center. Let's go over them.

Game 1- Flyers win in OT; Foerster scores game-winner
The Flyers and Rangers rookies played a real tight game last night in their first of two rookie games this weekend at the PPL Center. The Flyers prevailed in overtime, 2-1, thanks to a Tyson Foerster goal assisted by Elliot Desnoyers. Foerster, who had an incredible World Junior Championship this past summer. He continues to shine and is really making a case for a roster spot.

Phantoms head coach Ian Laperrière was pleased with Foerster's overall performance, as he showcased his physicality and his shooting ability ahead of training camp. Laperrière has this to say while he chuckled about it.
«He scored in overtime, which is great, which for me was like, Wow, that's how it feels to win in overtime,'"

Swedish left winger Olle Lycksell notched the Flyers' first goal in the second period, few minutes after the Rangers started the scoring. The Flyers then controlled the pace of play throughout majority of the third period, outshooting the Rangers, 13-4 but just not able to score on some quality chances. We can only hope the Rangers don't have yet another incredible goaltender in the waits. Overall, the Flyers were solid defensively, limiting the Rangers rookies to just 19 shots on goal.
«I was very happy about the effort,» Laperrière said. «They worked hard. They made mistakes, yes, but they played for one another, and they only have been practicing for two days together, which is pretty impressive.»

Game Two-Flyers win 5-1 behind the Cates brothers
In the Flyers' second triumph, Egor Zamula, Olle Lycksell, Noah Cates, Zayde Wisdom, and Ronnie Attard all scored goals. Showing some hope in the franchise's youth.
The Flyers' goaltender for the matchup, Samuel Ersson, was excited for some long-awaited game action. The promising Swedish goalkeeper made 36 saves while playing the entire game.
Something special that took place was seeing the Cates brothers play together. Jackson Cats assisted his brother Noah Cates on a short-handed goal tonight. It really was something special.
Flyers rookie training camp wraps up Sunday in Voorhees, New Jersey with practice from 10:15-11:15 a.m. ET.
Main training camp commences Thursday.
