GM David Poile appears to be looking to move defenceman
Dante Fabbro, according to Elliotte Friedman.
Speaking on The Jeff Marek Show on Sportsnet 590 in Toronto, Friedman reported that the Predators are looking to move Fabbro, who is scheduled to become a restricted free agent July 1.
Fabbro, 24, is in the final year of a two-year, $4.8 million contract.
With the Predators failing to gain any significant ground in the Western Conference playoff race the team currently sits seven points out of a wildcard spot Poile has been take calls on a number of his players, including blueliner
Mattias Ekholm and forward
Nino Niederreiter.
Ekholm is in the first year of a four-year, $25 million deal, while Niederreiter has another year left on his contract after this season and comes with a $4 million salary cap hit.
Friedman suggests the San Jose Sharks are one of the teams that has interest in Fabbro, but it is unclear who else might be in the mix or what the Predators are looking for in a trade.
In 52 games with the Predators so far this season, Fabbro has registered one goal and seven assists for eight points, along with 36 penalty minutes.
