Flyers Today : The situation regarding Ryan Ellis is extremely worrying

Yesterday, the Flyers were practicing for a rare time at Wells Fargo Center because of photo day. Everyone was there...except Ryan Ellis.

So, why wasn't he present? Ellis was out of town as he received treatments in relation to his lower-body injury that made him miss most of the campaign.

However, this situation is concerning. The Flyers didn't unveil the exact nature of the injury. Is it the groin? Is it the hip? Does the management know or not?


Also, they don't seem to know if Ellis needs surgery. Fletcher didn't rule out this possibility the last time he talked about it.

We're already in April. Next training camp is in September. If he needs surgery, he will possibly miss the beginning of 2022-23.

And the Flyers can't afford it, knowing that Fletcher wants his team to make the playoffs next year. When healthy, Ellis is the best defenseman on this team. They just desperately need him back, and the fact that we still don't know what's going on is worrying. He's out since the month of October and there has basically been no change on his status since.

Well, the few updates that we got during the season was the fact that he wasn't making any progress.

1. This is going to be a special night for Cam Atkinson. The Flyers are visiting the Blue Jackets in Columbus and it will be in fact the first time Atkinson returns to Nationwide Arena since the trade this summer.

He's just hoping for one thing : a lot of cheers and no boos.


2. The Flyers will look for revenge tonight. Despite a great effort against Columbus at Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday, they lost 4-2. Mike Yeo's players dominated this game.

3. Martin Jones will be the starting goaltender tonight in Columbus.

4. The Lehigh Valley Phantoms were looking to keep their playoff hopes alive last night. However, it didn't go well. Hayden Hodgson was the only scorer for Lehigh Valley as they lost 3-1 against the Wilkes-Barre Penguins.
