According to reports from The Fourth Period's Anthony Di Marco and Sportsnets Elliotte Friedman, the Flyers may be close to officially naming their President of Hockey Operations by the end of this week. Friedman alluded to the potential of the transaction happening in his 32 Thoughts Podcast.
It would all certainly make a lot of sense given the draft lottery is set to take place tonight. Regardless of where the ping pong balls land the Flyers in the lottery(#1 - 6.5%, #2 - 6.7%, #3 - 0.2%, #7 - 44.4%, #8 - 36.5% or #9 - 5.6%) it goes without saying that the organization will have to shift into gear for the draft shortly there after. Naming the PoHO now and potentially removing the "interim" tag from Briere's name would put all the pieces needed for the event fully in place well in advance to begin the process that will (hopefully) help bring as much success as will be possible depending on where the ping pong balls ultimately land the Flyers for their first selection of the 2023 draft.
