Flyers fans must expect to see massive changes in Philadelphia this summer

Retool or rebuild? That's the big question.

Chuck Fletcher made it clear that he wanted a competitive team next season. But is it feasible? It's going to be extremely difficult, to say the least. Pretty much everybody knows that Fletcher's margin of error is going to be extremely thin this summer.

The problem is that the management doesn't want to realize it. There's too many holes to fill and it's pretty improbable that Fletcher will succeed to solve all of his team's issues.

Mike Rupp, a former NHLer, has the same opinion as pretty much everybody: the Flyers are better to rebuild than retool...

"It's tough because they need to start filling in the system, and they need to start developing the system, draft picks and doing all those things. That gives you longevity. At the same time, they want to win and they are in a market that has always been in a "win now mode". They got some assets, they got some equity in that group (...) I think to do it right it's a rebuild," said Rupp.

Brian Lawton, another former NHLer, said that he expects "to see big time, massive explosions going off with the Philadelphia Flyers in terms on how they're going to get better this summer."
