Flyers face the Islanders tonight as both teams are starting to wind down on the preseason. Teams will face each other one more time in the preseason finale in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday. Flyer's goaltender Samuel Ersson gets the call and could potentially be the backup goaltender for Carter Hart as Felix Sandstrom sustained an injury. Some key things that were noticed from this game- let's get into it.

Powerplay looking a bit Powerless
In order to have a strong record in the NHL, a strong powerplay is key. A goal scored by Tony DeAngelo in the 2nd period. Goal was assisted by Morgan Frost and Tyson Foerster. Considering its the preseason, it's still an essential part of a winning team to score with the man advantage as much as you can. Tonight, the Flyers did not do much scoring when they had their opportunities. Flyers went one for five on the powerplay. Late in the 3rd period, Flyer had a chance but immediately was removed on a Noah Cates high sticking call.
Ersson gets the gate
Flyers young goaltender Samuel Ersson will get the call for tonight's game. Surprisingly, he will play the full 60 minutes. Ersson had some quality saves tonight. Ersson finished with 21 saves on 23 shots and a .913%. This was an important game for Ersson because he is aiming to become the backup goalie for Carter Hart as Felix Sandstrom sustained, as mentioned in the briefing.
John Tortorella makes his debut behind the bench
As we near the end of the preseason, it was bound to see the Flyers new head coach get behind the bench to coach his new team. Despite the outcome tonight, it was a good sign to see his presence and it was felt for sure.
