The NHL and the Philadelphia Flyers recently hosted their annual Hockey Fights Cancer night where the league and hockey community rally around those impacted by Cancer. For 9-year-old Owen Micciche, the Flyers gave him the experience of a lifetime.
On Nov. 29, the Flyers signed Micciche to a one-day contract where Micciche had the opportunity to read the lineup in the locker room before the game, took the ice with the team, sit on the bench with the team during the game, and interact with his favorite Flyers players.
Although just 9 years old, Micciche has been battling a pediatric brain tumor diagnosis along with spine tumors as he will continue treatments throughout the next year. Owen's parents were beyond the moon having the opportunity to see their son play hockey with his heroes.
