Flyers may be doing a big error on the last stretch of the season

The Flyers plan until the end of the season is clear : play the kids as much as possible. There will be 8 players age 24 or under tomorrow in the lineup against the Capitals. It's pretty exciting.

However, the team could do even better in this department.

Brandon Sommermann, from BrotherlyBully, thinks that Mike Yeo should give more responsibilities to a guy like Noah Cates instead of playing James Van Riemsdyk and Nate Thompson.

Well, in fact, he suggested that those two players should be healthy scratches until the end of the year.

Here's his ideal lineup :

However, it's also important for these young players to be surrounded by good veterans, which are the cases of JVR and Thompson. Putting Cates on the 4th line isn't a bad idea either because he's susceptible to be a (good) bottom-6 player during his NHL career.

When you look at how they are handling Bobby Brink (it's still early), the coaching staff is giving every tools for him to succeed by putting him on the top-6 and on the first wave of the powerplay.

Also, scratching JVR and Thompson doesn't seem to be a good idea when we saw how veterans like Kevin Hayes reacted to Keith Yandle being scratched.

In another vein, the Flyers could recall forward Wade Allison for this last stretch of games this season. He's killing it in the AHL and deserves to play at least 4 or 5 games until the end of the campaign.
