The Pittsburgh Penguins were expected to be a playoff contender again this season after re-signing Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin in the off-season, as well as trading for Montréal Canadiens defenceman Jeff Petry. The penguins felt they were good enough to contend in the Metropolitan Division.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are 27-21-9 record and are currently sitting in 5th in the Metropolitan Division, meaning if the playoffs started today they wouldn't be in the playoffs.
Thursday night the Penguins fans would show their frustrations after having their asses handed to them by the Edmonton Oilers 7-2, fans would chant "Fire Hextall."
The worst part is Hextall spent all his money meaning the Penguins General Manager has very little funds to improve his teams chances unless they call in a third party team to help make a trade.
