Former Philadelphia Flyer Gets Healthy Scratched For ''Trade Related Reasons''

The career of former Flyers defenseman Luke Schenn has certainly been an interesting one. Ever since he was selected in the 2008 NHL draft, in the first round 5th pick overall, Schenn has traversed the league and has played for 6 different organizations.

He was considered finished as an NHL defenceman by many pundits and fans after his time in Toronto. Despite the mistakes he had made, he lacked confidence and stride in his game. The Maple Leafs' management made the mistake of bringing him up to the parent club far too early and not giving him enough time in the AHL.

As the six foot two 225 pound defenseman grew older his value began to go up as he was on teams such as the Flyers and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Schenn's name has been mentioned in numerous trade rumours as the March 3rd trade deadline approaches. To protect their asset, the Vancouver Canucks scratched the 33-year-old defenseman for tonight's game against Nashville.
With his style of the game today, he will fetch the Vancouver Canucks a decent return in terms of either draft picks or prospects. Teams that have been mentioned as the destination are a return to the lightning and the team that drafted him the Toronto Maple Leafs.
