In the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Jakub Voracek was chosen by the Columbus Blue Jackets as the 7th overall pick in the 1st round.

Despite being a part of the team's ups and downs, he was eventually traded to Philadelphia in 2011.
Voracek was known for his impressive passing skills and colorful personality, which made him a fan favorite.
Unfortunately, he suffered a concussion in November, which was said to be career-ending, and has yet to return to the ice.

Voracek, 33, last played in a game on Nov. 4 and may not compete again in the NHL. He announced in December that he would be sidelined long-term with concussion symptoms.
This was just one of eight concussions he has suffered throughout his career. Although he has not officially retired, his contract was traded to the Arizona Coyotes, along with a pick, for goal-tender Jon Gillies. This was a rental move to help the Coyotes hit the cap floor.
We ultimately mourn his career and miss his presence on the ice and in interviews.
The Arizona Coyotes acquired the contract of injured forward Jakub Voracek and a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday in exchange for goaltender Jon Gillies.

The departure of Voracek effectively amounts to a salary dump for the Blue Jackets. Voracek's current contract runs through the 2023-24 season with a cap hit of $8.25 million, per Spotrac.
