As the Philadelphia Flyers continue to turn heads during the 2023 season, second year head coach John Tortorella has the Philly locker room believing and playing some of the best hockey in the NHL this season.
On Saturday night, the Flyers shut out the Detroit Red Wings 1-0 behind goalie Sam Ersson for their second straight win and also pushing their point streak to eight straight games.
One of the largest contributing factors to the team's success has to go to second year coach John Tortorella. Although the team has been faced with navigating injuries all season long, Tortorella has kept his team winning games and improving each and every night.
Since Nov. 7, the team is 12-3-2 and sit at second in the Metropolitan Division and fifth overall in the Eastern Conference.

Many of Torts' players have echoed how much he has changed the energy both on the ice and in the locker room.
Scott Laughton emphasized this point after practice last Friday:
"We haven't had many of these moments throughout the last couple of years, haven't had that real good feeling around the room or around the Wells Fargo. You can feel the energy in the building every night, the way we're going and just everything around."
Alongside Laughton, defenseman
Rasmus Ristolainen gave Torts his praises as Ristolainen has shown tremendous growth as he has played just ten games due to injury but has quickly climbed up the defense ranks.
The Flyers will bring this new found energy and belief into the Prudential Center in Newark as they take on the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, December 19 at 7:00p.m.
