There's one week left until the trade deadline, so it's expected that the action will pick up. Teams are still weighing on what their needs are, while sellers are quietly waiting for the best offer to come.
In Philadelphia, the next seven days are going to be pretty hectic. We still don't know about
Claude Giroux's fate, even if it's expected that he'll be traded.
What is going to happen with Derick Brassard, Martin Jones and Justin Braun? We'll know more in the upcoming days.
Let's go back to Claude Giroux. The Flyers captain will play his 1000th game as a Flyer on Thursday, which also could be his last with the club. He told reporters yesterday that he'll going to discuss his future with the management.

Some teams are although a bit nervous about Claude Giroux. They are afraid that he might be homesick for Philadelphia if he's indeed traded. So, a move to a Western Conference franchise is becoming more and more unlikely.
With that being said, and according to Anthony SanFilippo, it seems that Giroux's preferred destination is Carolina. The Florida Panthers are also in the conversation.
Why? Carolina isn't that far from Philadelphia - it's less the case for Florida, but he'll stay in the East with the same time zone as Philadelphia. Thus, his family is going to be pretty close to him, even if they are not in the same city anymore (if they don't move to the place where Giroux will be traded).
