With the Pittsburgh Penguins now out of the first playoffs round four years in a row, many questions are being asked about the team's management and how many excuses they have left.

Firstly, as The Athletic puts it,
"A bigger fact, however, is that the Penguins last won a playoff series on April 22, 2018, in Philadelphia. A little more than four years later, they've become one-and-done regulars and are a franchise with a legendary captain, a great coach, a boatload of money and no definable direction."

Ron Hextall, the man in charge is being blamed of ruining the team in Pittsburgh as he did with its Pennsylvania counterpart, the Flyers.

"Though Hextall has added a few strong pieces in Rickard Rakell, Jeff Carter and Mark Friedman. He's done nothing disastrous, though he endured a shaky summer in 2021, allowing both Brandon Tanev and Jared McCann to leave Pittsburgh."

It's been reported that earlier this season, the Penguins' new owners Fenway Sports Group asked Hextall to write down his vision of the team going forward.
"Hextall, a creature of habit and in the middle of regular-season responsibilities, initially explained that his plan for the Penguins' future was in his head and not easily articulated by the written word.

He was still forced to write down his thoughts.
Hextall may very well soon have a fiery testy end to his career as Penguins GM but not before he leaves with a bang.
As one fan puts it,
"Me: Jim Rutherford being gone means the Penguins are now boring."

"Ron Hextall: Oh yeah, dumbass? Watch what I can do!"
