Knowing the Blackhawks weren't a playoff team, the organization would try to accommodate Fleury's wishes to go to a playoff team in a trade. However, Fleury choose where he wanted to go and turned down two trade offers from the Edmonton Oilers and Washington Capitals.
Fleury would end up in Minnesota at the trade deadline, and was an instant fan favorite. Unfortunately, the Playoffs ended in the first round for the Wild at the hand of the St.Louis Blues. At 37, and being a pending UFA, many wondered where Fleury would end up next season.
However, Hockey Insider Darren Dreger revealed the Minnesota Wild and General Manager Bill Guerin are hoping to re-sign Fleury. Dreger would share contract talks haven't begun yet, but are expecting to begin soon.
