Hockey Legend, Veteran Passes Away at The Age of 72

Minnesota hockey fans are grieving the loss of beloved former NHL and WHA forward Henry Boucha, who passed away at the age of 72. Both the Minnesota Wild and the Detroit Red Wings confirmed his passing.

During his career, Boucha played in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota North Stars, Kansas City Scouts, and Colorado Rockies. However, it was his outstanding season with the WHA's Minnesota Fighting Saints in 1974-75 that stood out, where he notched an impressive 15 goals and 35 points in just 36 games.

Boucha's impact extended beyond the rink; he was a star in high school, excelling in ice hockey, football, and baseball. He was easily recognizable on the ice, sporting a distinctive headband at a time when helmets were not mandatory.

Unfortunately, Boucha's promising career was cut short due to an eye injury at the age of 24. Nevertheless, he continued to make significant contributions off the ice. His dedication to supporting Native American causes led to his induction into the US Hockey Hall of Fame.

Henry Boucha's legacy as a hockey icon and community leader will forever be cherished by the people of Minnesota.
