Unfortunately minor hockey has had a growing trend that's a cause for concern. This weekend a game in the United States Premier Hockey League's Midget Division would start the game off like it was a scene in the hockey movie "Slap Shot."
As the refs dropped the puck for the opening faceoff three players from each team decided to drop their gloves. Yes fighting is a part of hockey whether you like it or not, but with all the advocates, fighting may get taken out of hockey due to stuff like this.
This wasn't the only minor league hockey incident recorded this weekend as game in the United States Federal Province Hockey League game would have a fight between a goalie and player on the opposing team after taking a second shot in a shootout... crazy!
