When I think of Ron Hextall one word comes to mind which is «tough.» When he played for the Flyers as their number one goaltender he would always battle in the net, win many games and occasionally throw a fist or two against players who crossed his crease or at players named Felix.

Since moving from a player to a general managers role, he had his stint with the Flyers and then became the general manager of the state rivals Pittsburgh Penguins.
With the window closing for the Penguins in the Sidney Crosby era in having numerous draft picks removed from his ranks, Ron Hextall has had a tough road being in charge.
Elliotte Friedman of the 32 thoughts was a special guest on the podcast Nasty Knuckles and he weighed in on his thoughts about Hextall.

In all likelihood, there's a good chance that Hextall may lose his job with the Penguins continuing to struggle and possibly fall out of the playoffs picture along with a team that needs to be restructured and possibly rebuilt in the coming years.
One thing's for sure though, I doubt it bothers too many Flyers fans knowing that the Penguins are struggling and may see Sidney Crosby out of the playoffs.
