Ivan Provorov exposes bad times in Philly after loss to Flyers
After the Columbus Blue Jackets lost to the Philadelphia Flyers recently, former defenseman Ivan Provorov came to terms, with his trade from the Flyers.
A strong Flyers team in the Metropolitan Division beat the Blue Jackets 5-2. As times change, Provorov recognizes a part of his past that causes him mixed emotions.
While he put on a smile during his return to the city of brotherly love, his feelings weren't so simple.

Danny Briere traded Provorov, and John Tortorella, the bench boss of the Jackets for six years, along with Brad Shaw, who had been with the team for five years, offered Provorov some advice.
Having been selected 7th overall by the Flyers in 2015, he impressed many including Jakub Voracek with his ironman style of play, including a double-overtime shift in 2020.
"A little bit of mixed feelings, mixed emotions," Provorov said ahead of Sunday night's game against his former team. "Obviously it's a little bit weird being in this building on the other side. I really enjoyed my time here, but for right now, it's kind of hard to find words. It's an emotional day."
In the past three years, things in the organization had changed, leading to a sour feeling in Provorov. In addition to the constant change of defensive partners, the team would begin rebuilding.
"Seven years is a long time," Provorov said. "There's been some good times, there's been some bad times. But overall, when I played here, I thought I gave everything I had. When I do things, I put a lot into it, all of me into it."
As Provorov returned to the Wells Fargo Arena after spending 7 years with the organization, the Flyers would pay tribute to him. During his career, Provorov didn't expect to play for another team, but things have changed so quickly.
Flyers and fans salute Ivan Provorov in his return to Philadelphia.
"When you get drafted and you spend a long time with a team, you don't really picture yourself playing with anybody else, especially if you take your stuff serious and all of that," Provorov said before the Flyers' 5-2 win over the Blue Jackets. "But obviously the last few years haven't gone the way everyone wanted it to, so at the same time, it was disappointing. But on the other hand, it was exciting to have a new team that is excited to have you and excited to give you the opportunity to show who you are as a player."
But he is excited to be in Columbus and to have the opportunity he has in Columbus.
