Throughout this season, Flyers fans have become accustomed to the message that head coach John Tortorella brings to his hockey club. In his previous assignments with other NHL organizations, Tortorella has never shied away from the idea of benching a player or calling him out when he is not doing what he's asked or fulfilling his role.

Tonight, against the Calgary Flames, Tortorella showed again who the boss is when he benched forward Joel Farabee repeatedly throughout the game.
The 22-year-old winger is in the first season of his six-year $30 million contract and holds a cap head of around $5 million. Ferebee has been moved up and down the lineup to try to find his right fit and that doesn't seem to be happening at the moment.

Currently a -3, he was drafted by the Flyers in the first round 14th choice overall in 2018. He has played 58 games and scored nine times with 17 assists for 26 points in 58 games. The last five games have resulted in one assist, no penalty minutes, no power-play goals, and a steady decline in his ice time. You would not expect these numbers from a first-round draft pick with his salary.
Only time will tell if Farabee can find the right line to make him ignite honour that contract he signed last year. I do feel however that it falls on general manager Chuck Fletcher to find a proper centerman to help with Farabee's troubles.
