The Philadelphia Flyers have been without a captain since the departure of Claude Giroux in 2021, and the question of who will be named the next captain has been a topic of much speculation among fans and the media.

However, head coach John Tortorella has grown weary of the constant questioning and has declared that there will not be a captain next year.
In a recent press conference, Tortorella told the Flyers media to stop asking about the captaincy, stating that there won't be one at all..."So you don't have to ask me."
Tortorella's decision to forego naming a captain may come as a surprise to some, but it is not an entirely unprecedented move. Several NHL teams have opted to go without a captain in recent years, including the Vegas Golden Knights and the Ottawa Senators.
