Head coach John Tortorella is no stranger to controversial roster decisions which he feels will improve or challenge certain players to be better. This season hasn't had a shortage of this. From the benching of top point-getter Kevin Hayes with his defensive struggles to Tony D'Angelo, torts do feel this is the proper way to do it.

Some fans feel this is the proper way to go, and others are in the camp of tough love isn't the way to improve a player's game.
In his latest choice, he decided to scratch defenseman Travis Sanheim when the Flyers meet up against the Calgary Flames.
Must read on FlyersInsider
In the last five games, Sanheim has had one assist no penalty minutes no power-play goals and holds a 0 plus minus, he's been averaging well over 18 minutes a game during that stretch. With Sanheim being scratched some fans have expressed their anger, especially with the fact he's from Calgary most of his family was present to watch the game.
In my opinion, love or hate the decision and the roster falls on the coach's shoulders and if he feels that a certain player is not performing to where he needs him to be then measures need to be done to get the players' attention, especially a player who has been pegged as one of their top points getting defensemen and just signed an 8-year contract worth $50 million.
It remains to be seen whether Sanheim gets the message and he can return to the lineup.
