The memo circulated that this season would not be a great one for the Flyers and their fan base was widely expected that the team would struggle and not achieve many wins, as they were positioned to have another chance at a lottery draft pick.

Despite some early season success, it seems that the Flyers have returned to what was initially expected. The Flyers played against the Kings and delivered their worst performance of the season, losing 5-0.
After the game, Tortorella was asked several questions during a media scrum, one of which pertained to the benching of defenseman Cam York.

According to Brandon J. Sommermann, Tortorella remained calm after the loss but explained why he benched York during the third period.
These types of games will be expected going forward, now that Carter Hart is sidelined with an upper-body injury that will keep him out of the game for three to six weeks. Sam Ersson will now take the net, with Cal Petersen as his backup.
The Flyers will have an opportunity to redeem themselves as they continue their western road trip through California, with a stopover to play against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, November 7th. The game will start at 10:30 PM Eastern.
