Keith Yandle Issues a Video Statement to Tortorella After Benching Kevin Hayes

Hayes who has not escaped the wrath of coach John Tortorella was recently benched in the third period of the Flyers' game against the devils. Tonight against the Rangers torts decided to bench him completely.

Tortorella has felt to keep his reasons quiet for benching Hayes however the evidence for this has been mounting for some time, especially for his defensive play. Torts is well known for his system of defense first and he is trying to send a message to Hayes to improve his defensive decisions.

Hayes has played in 31 games, has 9 goals and 20 assists for 29 points but is a glaring minus 12. That certainly sends alarm bells to the coach that he will be a defensive liability with the team trying to find their identity.

The Flyers will play their next game at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, December 20th at 7:00 PM. We will have to see if coach torts decide to bench Hayes for a second game.
