The start of the 2023-24 regular season for the Philadelphia Flyers has seemed like a night and day difference from the product the fans have seen on the ice the past two seasons.

Many ask why. It's not like the team went out and spent a fortune in free agency or made big trades in the offseason. Is it the players buying into John Tortorella's coaching style? That's certainly a factor that cannot be ignored, but one of the largest contributing factors to the Flyers success in 2023 is regaining some key players back from injury.
One Flyer who really deserves some significant recognition is Sean Couturier. After only playing 29 games last season due to injury, Couturier has comeback this season and produced at an extremely high level while also being the voice of the locker room.
Coots has already logged 30 games this season and is second on the team in points and assists. The Flyers have been looking for someone to wear the captains patch since the departure of Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier is someone who undoubtedly deserves that C.

Another Flyer who has been impressive is Joel Farabee. The 2018 first round pick is really starting to hit his stride as just 32 games into the season he has recorded 20 points and 11 goals, tied for the second best on the team.
Farabee may not receive as much attention as other high draft picks, but there's no denying his talent.
A third Flyer who deserves recognition is Travis Sanheim. Sanheim struggled in 2022 and into 2023 but it was later revealed that he was playing on a foot that was broken during the 2022 World Championships while he was with team Canada.
Now that Sanheim is fully healthy, he has been able to take on a massive role defensively. Sanheim, to many Flyers fans surprise, has been a key piece on a team who's identy has been their defense through the first part of the season. Sanheim is in the top ten in the NHL in ice time as he averages 25:13 per game and leads the team in assists with 18, already more than he had the entirety of last season.
