Local Hockey Event Giving Back in a Huge Way

Teams from all over have been formed to give back to non-profit organizations everywhere in multiple charity hockey games held in New Jersey. An incredible event that helps non-profit organizations in need.

Checking For Charity was founded by a passionate group of players with a shared love for the game and a desire to make the world a better place. Since the beginning, CFC has been committed to not only raising as much money as possible for charity but also to putting on the most competitive and professional tournaments and events.

The organization has put on over 15 tournaments since 2009, has expanded to both coasts and has raised well over $400K for charity since its founder Matt Bader started this.

I had the opportunity to speak with Director of Charitable and Volunteer Alyson Ward about the event and what it means to her, Here is what she had to say.

"Checking for Charity is first and always about helping other non-profits. We have a fantastic group of teams who play for the thrill of competition, bragging rights and fun, but who collectively are there to support their chosen charities. Our tournament has seen players from men's league to college athletes, AHL, and the NHL, with players traveling across the US and sometimes Europe. Most importantly, we have been fortunate enough to raise and distribute over $500k to over 100 non-profit charities to date, with charities spanning from support for veterans, rare illnesses, suicide prevention, mental health, neurodiverse families and much more - and we want to keep continuing to do so"
