The Minnesota Wild's elimination from the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at the hands of the Dallas Stars has shifted attention to the future of veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. While the three-time Stanley Cup champion is under contract for next year, many have speculated whether the 38-year-old will opt to retire now that the Wild are out of contention. Fleury spoke on this topic after last night's game, putting the rumors to rest.

When asked about his plans, Fleury made it clear that he intends to play in the 2023-24 season. However, he followed that up with a hint that it may be his final one, stating "that might be it." It's clear that Fleury has little left to prove, and his decision to play at this point is driven by his desire to continue rather than feeling obliged to do so.
Fleury made clear he plans to play one more year and then «that might be it.»

Whenever Fleury decides to retire, he's almost certain to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. He'll most likely be eligible in his first year of eligibility, joining his wife Veronique Larosee Fleury and their three children in embarking on a new journey of life.

While Fleury played second fiddle to Filip Gustavsson in the playoffs, he still saw significant playing time in the regular season, taking the ice in 46 games.
