McGrattan wanted to Drop Torts during 2014 Incident.
Every so often, there is an incident that every NHL fan, pundit, and player will remember and talk about for years to come. From the Patrick Roy incident in Montreal when he decided to call it quits on the team after not being pulled for 11 goals against, to the Colorado and Detroit rivalry where many brawls happened for a few years, there always seems to be one incident that many never forget.
Let's travel back in time to January 2014 when the Vancouver Canucks, coached by the current Flyers head coach John Tortorella, faced the Calgary Flames. Vancouver and Calgary always had a bitter rivalry as both teams were in the Pacific Division, and there had been some bad blood over the years.
This game's start wasn't any different. There was an energy of something major about to happen with the Flames being the away team, coached by Bob Hartley. Hartley decided to ice his fourth line, leading to Tortorella countering with his fourth line. As soon as the puck dropped, the fights began and didn't stop for many minutes.

This led to many heated exchanges between Tortorella and Hartley, with Torts doing all the yelling. After the first period was over, the fireworks didn't stop and spilled into the hallway with Torts continuing to tear at Hartley.
Brian McGrattan, who was playing for the Calgary Flames at the time, discussed the incident during a podcast called "Missin Curfew." The six-foot-five, 240-pound winger had no issues stating that he wanted to drop Tortorella right there.
Tortorella has never backed down from anything, as we all know, and I highly doubt this will be the last incident we'll see with him behind the bench, getting downright irate with the opposing head coach.
