Ron Hextall started the trend of goalies scoring empty net goals in the late 1980's, and since many professional goaltenders have taken a jab at it, very few have been successful.
One goalie who was successful, and made his leagues (BCHL) history is Michael Sochan, who did not hesitate at a attempt to score the very similar goal Ron Hextall did in the exact same scenario.
